Fifth Assignment

The main conflict in my novel is the violence that Alex (main character) and
his "droogs"(friends) create in the night. Probably the biggest conflict now is
Alex getting caught by the police because his droogs screwed him
over. The police don't really care that Alex says he's innocent and take him
in. It's kind of sad in a way. Alex is this troublesome guy but because he's
the Narrator you can't help but feel sorry for him.

The project of my novel is probably karma. At least that's how I see it so far.
Alex and his droogs were friends and then the next day they screw him over
just because Alex see's himself as their leader. The sad part is
it seems that way from the beginning. And his droogs just don't want
to accept it.

My conflict helps my project sum up because Alex was their friend/ leader who
created as much violence as much as they did. He would make people
feel helpless when they were being attacked by them. But now it's as if
the tables have turned. Karma struck at Alex and he got screwed
over royally.

Fourth Assignment

So far in my book I have found symbolism and metaphors.
I think metapors are probably the easiest thing to locate because metaphors are
used all the time, even outside of my book.

I know when a sentence or a moment in the book is mataphor
because a metapor is a word or phrase used to descibe something.
In my book some examples are:

-"There's been some very large talk behind my sleeping back and no error."
Basically that means that Alex's "droogs" (friends) have been talking
about him when he isn't around. Not literally standing behind his back and talking
about him.

-" So we came nice and quiet to this domy called The Manse, and
there were globe lights outside on iron stalks, like gurading the front door on
each side..." This means that lights were very tall. They weren't litterally
outside gurding the doors to the house.

These are both examples of metaphors.
This is an example of symbolism:

-It would probably be the "milk bar" that Alex and his "droogs" always
go to. After they cause trouble or rob someone, beat someone up, rape someone, ect..
They always go back to the milkbar as if the milkbar is there sanctuary.
The people who even work at the milkbar always say that they've been there and only
there that night. So they basically cover them and lie to authorities about them
being at the milkbar when they're really causing havoc.

I don't really have an example of an allegory. Not one that I know of yet at least.
And as for the project for my book. Well before I started reading this book, I looked up online
so I pretty much know quite alot to say that the project is karma.
No example or details as to why I think that but I know that the book is about karma.

Third Assignment

The story in general is written quite differently from anything I've ever read before. I think the author purposfully did this though to be different. In this age I think the author could still write differently if he wanted to because he has written so many things and the ideas and not to mention the language is.. unique because no one at all talks this way. So it's kind of cool because the author basically made up his own language.

Second Assignment

Number One: The main character is Alex. Alex seems really smart but also very violent. So far in the novel he's beaten up two men and has stolen a car with his gang friends as well. He's also beaten up another gang but I don't believe that's too bad conidering that they're also in a gang. I know that Alex is the main character because the story is told in his voice.

Number Two: I don't think I can relate to Alex at all. He's in a gang and I'm not. For fun he beats people up. Maybe our beliefs are kind of similar. In the book he knows that his society is kind of a let down and for fun some pepole do create violence just to pass the time. There was also this one part in the book where Alex and his "droogs" beat up an old man. The old man doesn't care and asks Alex to kill him because in today's society the young pick on the old and show the a thing or two. I wasn't so sure if Alex kept beating him because he knew it was true or not. But if he did think it was true then I guess I do feel the same way about todays society as well. It's kind of unfortunate and disturbing but people are in gangs and use gang violence just for fun.

Number Three: So I am Alex. I see the world different from what it use to be. Easier I guess because I am able to basically do whatever I may please. I can obtain a large amount of money because I can easily take it from some helpless man on the street. I hear this lifestyle everywhere with other gangs. The violence, rape, and stealing. I smell different things as well. I smell the sweat dripping from my face after I've beaten up that man preaching about today's society. I can smell the milk from the Korova Milkbar ( a place I continuly return to after the havoc I wrecked). I can also taste the milk and alcohol I purchase. And I feel indifferent because I'm not sure of my next move.

First Assignment

I chose A Clockwork Orange for my book. Honestly the only reason why I chose it was because of my dad and my uncle. My dad and my uncle happen to be twins and on their birthday weekend we went to target to go look at movies. My uncle, dad and I are movie freaks, it’s intense. Hah. Anywho, they told me I could pick a movie so I was looking and looking and I came across A Clockwork Orange. I had heard the movie was really weird and I like weird. It gives character. Anywho, I asked them if we could get it and my uncle freaked. He said no you cannot get that movie. You shouldn’t be allowed to watch it. First of all, HELLO! I’m almost 18 and second of all, it was kind of pricey. So I’m guessing that’s the only reason why he didn’t want me to get it. But of course they knew what the movie was about because they watched it before. Lame. Lame. Lame.
All in all, I chose this book because I heard the movie was weird/ good/not so good/ really weird/ ect.. So now I’m gonna read it because for one, I’ll be able to know what it’s about and why it’s so bad and for two, my uncle said he didn’t want me to watch it, he never said anything about reading it, right?
